CauseUP is an open, positive and
informal platform for anyone interested in giving of themselves to
actively share ideas and collaborate with others to make a positive
difference in the world.
Participation in CauseUP is based on five core values:
Openness
New Members are welcome to join what is a diverse, global, on-line
community – churches, plumbers, corporate executives,
entrepreneurs, social entrepreneurs, donor agency staff, policy
officials, non-government organization staff, students and many
others who are just interested. Members are encouraged to invite
their friends and colleagues to join the network.
Community
Our vision is of an active global community of pioneers pushing the
boundaries of how ordinary people can fight local and global evils
(such as poverty, illiteracy, disease, etc.) by the connections
they make and ideas they generate here on CauseUP. We encourage
Members to actively connect with their peers, and to contribute
through blogs, video and discussion forums on the site. We will
also regularly add and feature content to the network, whenever we
come across an idea or issue that we think will be of interest to
Members. We are constantly looking to improve the site, so please
do let us know what else we can add that would be useful for you
and others.
Professionalism
We will facilitate the network with the utmost professionalism. We
will respect Member’s privacy and will not sell or give out
Members’ personal information to third parties (unless required to
by law). We will not post on the site, or send Members, information
that it is not related to the subject focus of the site. We will
not spam Members with email (Members are able to opt out completely
from receiving email by clicking on their “My Settings” link). We
ask Members to follow similar principles in their use of the site.
We do not permit spam. We consider messages as spam where they are
both (a) unsolicited (the recipient has not granted permission for
the message to be sent) and (b) sent out in bulk (the message is
sent as part of a larger collection of messages, all having
substantively the same content). We also do not permit advertising
by members, and we do not accept membership from those who, in our
view, are joining to promote non-relevant causes. If a Member has
any concerns about the conduct of another Member, please contact
us. We may remove material posted on the site that we feel is not
related to the subject of the site. We also reserve the right to
exclude members who, in our view, have not followed the values set
out here.
Respect
We encourage positive and constructive discussion and even debate.
If any Member (or non-Member) feels that they have been subjected
to defamatory, abusive, threatening or harassing behavior, they
should contact us immediately so that we can take appropriate
action (which would include, but may not be limited to, exclusion
from the network). The same goes for any concerns about the content
of viewpoints and material posted on the site.
Integrity
Trust and honesty sit at the heart of the relationships on which
the CauseUP community is based. Member profiles should contain
information that is truthful. Members are asked not to upload or
disseminate any files or content for which they do not own or
control the intellectual property rights, except where they have
received the necessary consents to do so. Members are asked not to
upload or attach files that contain viruses or any other similar
programs that may damage the operation of another's computer.
